Amherst FRCo - Amherst (FVS) Custom - 8'
This AFRCo Amherst model was custom made for American marine artist Frank Vining Smith (1879 to 1967) of Massachusetts. His name is scripted on the butt of the rod which is otherwise the same as all high grade Amherst models. It has a NS down-locking reel seat with walnut spacer and a 7.5 inch fish tale grip. The wraps are red with green trim. I still need to replace the wraps on the stripping guide and a couple of decorative wraps on the butt section. The brightly finished ferrule are sizes 16 and 11. The action is medium and favors a 5 weight line. The rod tube and bag are original to the rod.
